Two websites I used religiously….weddingchannel.com and theknot.com. They have everything you’d ever want or need to know.

For planning, I suggest http://www.indiebride.com – use this if you are looking for a more off-beat, non-traditional wedding
For invites, I highly recommend http://www.invitationsbydawn.com/. They have GREAT prices and beautiful invites.

I like http://www.brides.com/, it gives you a checklist of when to do things based on your wedding date (you make a free account) which is nice and it has a budget thing as well.
And then, when you want to look at dresses or flowers or whatever, you can search vendors by state, so you could look for places in california.
Plus they have lots of pictures to give ideas on cakes, flowers, dresses, hair styles and all that. Pictures of real people’s weddings and then like company’s stuff.
Hope that helps, it does for me, I’m getting married in June!

I planned my wedding in 6 months, so don’t let people stress by saying it’s impossible and that you are completely under the gun. The key to wedding planning is being organized and delegate what you can and time management.
First check out http://www.theknot.com, http://www.brides.com and http://www.weddingchannel.com–all these wedding websites are quite similar, but are very helpful in helping you get organized.
*Determine a budget–this should be the first step. Knowing how much you can spend will dictate just about everything else.
*First book your ceremony and reception place. They usually tell you to book your church before booking your reception place, but try to do this altogether at one time. I booked my reception place first and then much church (didn’t want to lose the venue) but didn’t tell the church this. Sometimes churches act weird because they weren’t booked first. If you are having it all at one place–even better.
*Knock off your vendors–photo/video, flowers, limo, invitations, dj/mc, etc….do some background research before making appointments and booking. Make sure to read up on people’s recommendations so that you aren’t wasting time. Book several appointments in one day to save yourself the time so that you are seeing several vendors.
*Go dress shopping ASAP. Dresses need to be ordered, so go as soon as you can. Be open-minded when dress shopping because "THE" dress may very well be something that you wouldn’t have originally tried on. In addition, I suggest NOT going in with a specific color in mind because not ALL BM dresses will come in the colors you want. Again be open-minded–if you find dresses that you like, look to see what colors they offer it in that you like and work your color scheme based on that. This will save you the headache of running around trying to find dresses that fit the color you have in your head.
*Put together your guest list now. Your guest list will dictate many things–catering, invitations, seating, etc…Be realistic about the list because it’s easy for it to get out of hand and become expensive.
*Start looking at invitations. You can buy these on-line for a good price. I like http://www.invitationsbydawn.com–they have great prices and provide you with free samples.
Don’t worry–take a deep breath and knock things off your list one at a time. Take the help that is being given and enjoy the time.
Congrats!
